About this ebook

At her family’s hotel on a Florida barrier island, sleuthing novelist Liz Holt is shocked by a hidden treasure—and a buried body . . .

A team of archaeologists is staying at Indialantic by the Sea to study the days of the Spanish explorers, and they’ve stumbled upon a stunning and valuable find at the dig site, but before they can unearth it one of the archeologists finds himself buried in the sand and pierced with diving spear tipped with poison.

The local sheriff’s department accuses the owner of the neighboring property, Liz’s elderly reclusive friend and naturalist, Birdman, of the crime. Liz is sure—well, pretty sure—he is innocent and sets her sights on the remaining four archeologists.

With the help of her PI boyfriend and an octogenarian hotel resident, and two mischievous pet parrots, Liz must dig into the mystery of who buried the scientist and absconded with the artifacts he’d promised would put him in Florida history books—before she becomes history herself . . .

family-dynamics, friendship, Florida, barrier-islands, cozy-mystery, amateur-sleuth, private-investigators, murder, murder-investigation***** It all happens at a beautiful restored family hotel on one of the barrier islands of Florida. Mystery novelist Liz whose love interest is a PI (and former FDNY arson investigator, her father is a lawyer whose fiancee who is a local police detective, her own rescued parrot (prone to voicing obscenities), and a great-aunt with a 1960s TV history. This time there are archaeologists (who are involved with rivalry and infidelity). Enter the corpse who might have had an accident. Or not. The publisher's blurb is a pretty good hook, but there's lots more to recommend the plot with its twists and red herrings than meets the eye. I admit that I enjoyed another in the series, but there is enough clear referencing to make this one enjoyable all by itself! I loved it and couldn't stop until finished! I requested and received a free ebook copy from Kensington Books via NetGalley. Thank you!
