This was really emotional for these two guys. River was adopted and never quite fit in with the clan. Even though he is the Alpha, the entire clan wants him gone. Darius is human, but his wife was park of the Southoak Clan and his son, Parker, still is. His wife died and he spiraled out of control. Parker was the only thing that brought him back from the brink. At 8 yrs old Parker has an adult attitude when it comes to caring for his dad. From the moment River saw Darius he was intrigued and saved his life. The two will fight their addictions, prejudices, and even a kidnapping before they get their HEA. Surviving is a constant theme in this book. There was a lot of struggling especially on Darius' side. This book incorporates emotions well in this book. I received an advanced copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a honest, unbiased review.

The plot was well written and well planned and the characters were so strongly written that I couldn't put this book down until I finished reading the very last page!
