About this eBook

A New York Times bestselling series
A USA TODAY bestselling series
A California Young Reader Medal–winning series

In this riveting series opener, a telepathic girl must figure out why she is the key to her brand-new world before the wrong person finds the answer first.

Twelve-year-old Sophie has never quite fit into her life. She’s skipped multiple grades and doesn’t really connect with the older kids at school, but she’s not comfortable with her family, either. The reason? Sophie’s a Telepath, someone who can read minds. No one knows her secret—at least, that’s what she thinks

But the day Sophie meets Fitz, a mysterious (and adorable) boy, she learns she’s not alone. He’s a Telepath too, and it turns out the reason she has never felt at home is that, well
she isn’t. Fitz opens Sophie’s eyes to a shocking truth, and she is forced to leave behind her family for a new life in a place that is vastly different from what she has ever known.

But Sophie still has secrets, and they’re buried deep in her memory for good reason: The answers are dangerous and in high-demand. What is her true identity, and why was she hidden among humans? The truth could mean life or death—and time is running out.

It was an amazingly written book! It was one of the best things I've ever read. It keeps you on the edge of your seat constantly. As you read you will see as a huge web of mystery reveales itself. You are constantly thinking about what is going to happen next. Shannon Messenger deserves an award for best cliffhangers ever. This is an incredibly well written and planned out book, including the whole rest of the series too! I very highly recommend this book.

I loved this book and the ones after it. I read the second one in a day and have re-read them. The characters are just amazing. I left out a star because it could be a bit cheesy at times, but I still loved it.

Honestly, 5 stars isn't enough to describe this book series. KotLC (Keeper of the Lost Cities) is the best book series EVER written, from my point of view. They have deepest characters and the most imaginative world. The characters are soooo well written that I might just be in love with a certain one of them (Lord Hunkyhair(Keefe), anybody?) I recommend this book to EVERYONE!! Age no matter (Well, over 8)!! The single thing wrong with this book is that it has taken over my mind! And according to one of my friends, KotLC is 3/4 of my personality! XD I have read all the books and I am now waiting (not very patiently) for Book 9, which is currently untitled and coming out in Fall 2022. PLEASE READ IT! And on one last note: Go Team Foster-Keefe!!!
