About this ebook

Life’s a witch, and then you fly.

Romy Larson

The tequila made me do it—throw caution to the wind to take a DNA test. Now I know why “who’s your daddy” is a dangerous question. Dad’s a witch, with a whole magical family I knew nothing about.

Discovering I have magic isn’t the only shock (though it explains a lot). There’s a familiar face among the noisy, joyful Candler clan. A fostered son named Trace—the only other time in my play-it-safe life I did something crazy. A night of madcap fun and sizzling kisses.

Trace Holcomb

For years, I’ve been trying in vain to find a spell to bring my family back after they died. I’ve given up on magic. What good is it if I can’t do the one thing I want so much?

I mistook Romy for my blind date, and it was the best mistake I ever made. Or maybe it’s the worst. When the other shoe—more like the hammer—drops, I learn she’s part of the Candler family, who opened their big hearts to me when my family died.

Now it’s up to me to run Romy through a crash course in remedial magic before she loses it forever. That’s the last thing I want to do. As the smoke clears from her first disastrous spells, something else becomes clearer. Our attraction wasn’t a fluke. And she could be the key to making my impossible dream come true…

3.5 stars--BIG WITCH ENERGY by Kelly Jamieson is a stand alone, contemporary, adult, erotic, paranormal, romance story line focusing on web designer/artist Romy Larson, and construction worker Trace Holcomb. Told from dual first person perspectives (Romy and Trace) BIG WITCH ENERGY follows several months after the death of Romy’s mother, leaving our heroine without any extended family, that she knows of. So, with the advice of her friend Kesha and Hannah, Romy submits a DNA test to a website called ‘Who’s Your Daddy’, and the results will leave our heroine stunned and shocked. Meanwhile, attempting to go out of her comfort zone, Romy pretends to be on a blind date with a man she picks up at a bar, only to discover said man, will become part of the family she never knew she had-a family of magic wherein Romy is said to be a powerful witch. Enter witch Trace Holcomb, and the man with whom Romy will fall in love. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Romy and Trace as Trace is assigned to teach Romy about her power, and the potential fall-out as Romy oversteps with the Board of Witches, and finds herself facing a possible future without magic. Trace Holcomb doesn’t do relationships having lost everyone he loved years before. Having spent countless energy trying to do what cannot be done, Trace refuses to lose his heart to anyone else but having been asked to teach our story line heroine, Trace struggles with his attraction to a woman with whom he is falling in love. Romy Larson’s mother had always refused to talk about our heroine’s father. Struggling with no family or personal identity, Romy discovers that the family she always wanted is a little more than she could have ever imagined. The relationship between Trace and Romy is one of immediate attraction but Trace battles between head and heart when he is asked to help Romy come into her powers. Believing the people he calls family will dislike his attraction to our story line heroine, Trace keeps their relationship a secret, breaking Romy’s heart in the process. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate. There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Romy’s best friends Hannah and Kesha; her father Joe Candler and his wife Cassie, half sisters Felice and Magan; Garrett, Julie, Archmage Ziggy Cox, and a copious quantity of extended family of magic and power. BIG WITCH ENERGY is a story of family and loss, acceptance and love, magic and power. The premise is cute, imaginative and charming; the characters were quirky. But…saying all that, I felt that there was something missing; no palpable sexual attraction; and there was very little background information about our story line heroine.

4 Star review Big Witch Energy by Kelly Jamieson Having read other books by Kelly Jamieson I was intrigued when I learnt that she was writing a paranormal romance. I found the story to be well written and entertaining with characters who were easy to like and relate too. After the recent death of her mother and now alone in the world, Romy Larson decides to go in search of the father she never knew. Finding out that her father is a witch and that there is a whole magical Chandler family she knew nothing about certainly explains a lot of things for Romy. Having a night of fun with Trace Holcomb, she is shocked when she later learns that he was “adopted” by her magical family . Trace has been searching for a spell that will bring his family back to life. He himself has given up on magic, but when he is tasked with teaching Romy magic before she loses it, he agrees. The connection between them sizzled from their first meeting and it only grows throughout the story. I loved how accepting and welcoming the Chandler family were, they were great characters and certainly added to the enjoyment of reading. I wasn't too keen at first on Trace’s playboy ways but Ms. Jamieson turned my opinion around as the story progressed. This was a cute, fun story that was steamy and entertaining. I look forward to reading more paranormal stories from Ms. Jamieson in the future.

The first read from a new to me author! I'm loving this new crop of authors I've been introduced to. Romy recently lost her mother and doesn't have any other family - or so she thinks. She never knew anything about her birth father, her mother refused to speak about him. One DNA test later and she seems to have found some new relatives. They seem really eager to meet her - what could go wrong? Well a blind date SNAFU leads to her having dinner and a non-date date with Trace. So colour her shocked when she finds out that Trace is the foster brother of her brand new siblings! Romy was a brilliant mix of naive, and extroverted introvert LOL. She may start off shy and sweet but this girl had a wild side. Trace may think he doesn't want permanent but that man is lying to himself! he really doesn't want to lose the family he has found so is determined not to "go there" with Romy. Yeah, Romy and Trace's pheromones didn't get that memo LOL. Romy’s best friends are like the definitive BFF - pushy but supportive, encouraging but annoying. I'm really hoping there will be more from them to come. The new witchy family Romy finds herself a part of just accepts her with open arms, if only everyone were so lucky to get that support and love from strangers.
