김명순은 1925년 ‘생명의 과실’이라는 시집을 간행한 한국 최초의 여성 시인이며, 그 외에도 많은 산문과 희곡 및 극본을 남겼다. 근대 신문학의 대표 문인의 한 사람으로, 여성 해방을 부르짖은 선구자 역할을 하였으며 김명순의 시 작품에서는 주로 연정(戀情)과 자연의 아름다움, 추억을 노래한 시들이 주를 이루고 있다.
