[Church History II: From the Late Middle Ages to the Present] In seven large chapters, the volume deals with the history of Christianity from the late Middle Ages to the Reformation in the German-speaking world and in Europe, the confessional age, the age of Pietism and Enlightenment, the "long 19th century" and the "short 20th century". The presentation aims above all to reveal the major connections and lines of development. It is intended to provide prospective pastors and teachers of religion with a historically founded understanding of the form of Christianity with which they currently deal in their sphere of activity. At the same time, it provides the basic framework of the most important names and dates necessary for orientation and examination purposes.

Wolf-Friedrich Schäufele, Dr. theol., Jahrgang 1967, studierte Evangelische Theologie, lateinische Philologie und Biochemie in Tübingen, Heidelberg und Mainz. Seit 2007 ist er Professor für Kirchengeschichte an der Philipps-Universität Marburg. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen in der Kirchengeschichte des Mittelalters und der Frühen Neuzeit, insbesondere der Reformationsgeschichte.
