this book despite not naming the characters still gives a strong voice to each character. For example Priestess is a naive look on life trying to understand what made the MC the way he is. Goblin Slayer's child like understanding of the world and growth. the others are just as defining. I will admit it is a bit graphic, but it is worth the read.

Goblin Slayer (GS) the series isn't worth the effort. Read the first volume. It is very good as it has ominous dark start that flows into a great last battle. However everything good in the first book is basically dumped on floor and forgotten in every subsequent volume. Author tries a MacGyver-esque hero loop that just gets more and more contrived with such ludicrous solutions that becomes more and more unbelieveable. Here's another weird issue with the series goblins are too lazy to work, so they kill all the male slaves and only rape the female ones who are never allowed to wear clothes so the goblins end up having to do all the manual labor themselves. Are they lazy or not? There are so many other issues like towns with no guards. Soldiers who supposedly exist but never, ever show up anywhere. This isn't dark or edgy it's just stupid.

The sample was a good representation. It was a good dark fantasy. The grittiness was there, but the writing doesn't revel in it. Take Guts from Berserk, knock his skill down a level then replace all his ambition with the word "goblin", this is your protagonist. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
