Sloane and Caleb’s unexpected love story in Toying: An Ugly Duckling Instalove Romantic Comedy by Kylie Gilmore, book four in her Unleashed Romance series, is a steamy, romantic comedy, is a story of falling in love instantly, at first sight. Sloane Murray loves being a mechanic at her dad’s garage, leaving behind her teaching career. Once a child model and told she was an ugly duckling, in reverse, as a teen, her expectations are low as is her self-esteem; especially regarding men. It didn’t help that her mother left their small family at the same time. Sloane has no idea how beautiful she truly is, inside and out. Caleb Robinson is a gorgeous model, who is blown away once he sets his eyes on Sloane. He feels as if he’s been hit by lightning, a thunderbolt, exactly the way his dad described meeting his mom. It takes Sloane a while to believe that Caleb is truly attracted to her and wants her in his life; a life she swore she would never, ever, return to. Moving slowly, Caleb convinces Sloane of his feelings and hopes to have her as his wife; but it will take a compromise before she believes she belongs in his world. After all, love isn’t as simple as being hit with a thunderbolt. Ms. Gilmore wrote a wonderful and moving story that is definitely not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sizzling chemistry, fireworks, magnetic electricity, amusing banter, and charming secondary characters giving Caleb and Sloane a chance at love, happiness and the possibility of a forever together. I highly recommend Toying to other readers and look forward to the next book in the series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
