Nicole's Book Musings
I had to give this one a read because it's a sports romance and a single parent romance. Two of my favorites in one book, yes please! Scott won't know what hit him when it comes to Felicity and her son. I just loved all the characters in this book including Scott's grandma and her dog. Scott's grandma adds so much humor to this book. She's had me laughing quite often. I loved the interaction between Scott and Felicity's son. Then I loved watching Felicity give Scott as he dishes out. I think he has met his match. This book has a nice flow that had me gobbling up the book. It's one you shouldn't pass up on!

Felicity and Scott’s love story in The Soccer Player and the Single Mom by Kyra Jacobs was truly a fun and enjoyable read. While at the pediatrician’s single mom Felicity Shaw steps in for a missing receptionist while seeing on the news that the company she worked shut their doors without a single notice. Soccer player Scott Gillie is visiting his friend and former teammate hoping for reprieve from his manager, his grandmother, and the okay on his injured knee to return to the sport he loved. Scott’s manager wants to hire a PA for him which Scott wants no part in, while he’s recuperating at his grandmother’s in his small hometown. Felicity’s take charge and organized personality catches the eye of the manager, hiring her on the spot and offering three times what she was making. She is not interested, especially for a stubborn injured playboy but with bills piling up, no other available jobs in the area, and mouths to feed, she really can’t say no to the job. When a fire condemns Felicity apartment, Scott’s grandmother suggests she and her son temporarily move in with them, but Scott is going nuts with the temptation she offers, especially now that she is across the hall. As Scott plots and plans to force Felicity to quits he is surprised to learn that Felicity will fight fire with fire; karma is such a payback. As Scott and Felicity get to know one another they finally become friends and then lovers. Scott has goals he believes he must reach before settling down with a wife and family; until he returns to the game and sees all he is missing. Ms. Jacobs wrote a wonderful, sexy and emotional story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sexual chemistry, amusing banter, and endearing characters giving Scott and Felicity a chance at love and a future neither expected to make them happy. Side note: this reviewer once live in Indiana, the location for this story, and it brought back many memories. I highly recommend The Soccer Player and the Single Mom to other readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Scott Gillie is a soccer player with a mission, to get to the national squad, until an injury derails his career. Felicity Shaw is a single mom who has just lost her job when the factory where she worked went into receivership. Their lives collide in a doctor's waiting room where Scott's agent JB makes Felicity an offer she can't refuse - be Scott's PA for a few weeks while he's stuck staying with his grandmother Edna in Quail's Hollow, but Scott isn't going to make it easy ... This was inoffensive, fade-to-black romance. Unfortunately I read it shortly after one with a similar story, Nothing But Trouble which I absolutely adored and this fell short by comparison. There wasn't really any drama or tension or even any plot, just Scott and Felicity dancing around each other and playing house under the watchful eye of Edna and Felicity's son Tyler. I liked it but I didn't love it. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
