Wow! Realistic, steamy, emotional, and action-packed POV: dual HUMOR: some F BOMBS: yes STANDALONE: yes, but part of a series NEW AUTHOR FOR ME: yes POSSIBLE TRIGGERS: violence, drugs, murder, torture, explicit scenes, crude language (some in Spanish) MAIN CHARACTERS: undercover DEA agent Brody Thomas (Tomás González) and undercover officer Ines Rodriguez (Gabriela/Gabby) meet in unusual circumstances, both trying to obtain info from the drug cartel OVERALL: Impressed with (new for me) author - Well written - Recommend PROS: 1. realistic: all the things Brody had to do undercover was really intense 2. strong FMC 3. well-written: never a dull moment, didn't find any typos, no filler dialogues, no filler scenes (solid story) 4. Loved Brody/Tomas: tough, alpha, protective, and also tender and loyal 5. Nice steam and chemistry between MCs 6. Epilogue - HFN (happily for now) since series continues, but can definitely read as a standalone 7. Had lots of fast-paced & nail-biting action, steamy sex scenes, some funny bits, surprise twist in a character CONS: 1. just one small thing: a bit of back-tracking when quickly reading the action scenes because of the somewhat similar spelling in the names of FMC brother Manuel and cartel boss Miguel. NOTEWORTHY: 1. the emotional reconciliation (beautifully written!) between Brody and his brother near the end 2. loved his presence and support of Ines at the funeral (the whole funeral scene - emotional) 3. end of kindle eBook has free bonus chapter for the next book in the series "Striking Distance"

Action-packed! Brody is so deep undercover that he has to do things he never thought he would do and he's slowly losing himself to the darkness. But he'll do what needs to be done to take down the Cartel. Inez has gone undercover to find her missing brother who was also trying to take down the Cartel. All she needs to do is catch the eye of the big guys nephew and she's in. It wasn't suppose to happen but, when they meet they both know they need to cut down on the instant attraction they feel so they avoid each other. Neither can afford to bring suspicion upon themselves. When her secrets are revealed to him, he wants to save her. To protect her. Avenge her. When he's found out and needs help it's her turn to save, protect and avenge and she's bringing the Calvary! Action, secrets, lies, intrigue and plenty of steam make this book an awesome start to a new series that I'm looking forward to!

I appreciate how detailed-oriented the author is. I truly enjoyed devouring this novel. And I learned a few bedroom tricks along the way. #Bingo
