Ratings and reviews

Most of Modesitt's books have a main character that struggles and finally makes to triumph in the end. This one is no different. The fun of the story is how the character develops and what they encounter/overcome. Following Rahl as he grows stronger, while fighting across the country is a nice way to spend an evening or two.

Modesett's characters, even the ones you don't at first care for, unfailingly wiggle into your heart and find a home.

Great book. Does not leave you lost, but it does keep you guessing.
