About this ebook

The day Lacey Sturm planned to kill herself was the day her grandmother forced her to go to church, a place Lacey thought was filled with hypocrites, fakers, and simpletons. The screaming match she had with her grandmother was the reason she went to church. What she found there was the Reason she is alive today.

With raw vulnerability, this hard rock princess tells her own story of physical abuse, drug use, suicide attempts, and more--and her ultimate salvation. She asks the hard questions so many young people are asking--Why am I here? Why am I empty? Why should I go on living?--showing readers that beyond the temporary highs and the soul-crushing lows there is a reason they exist and a purpose for their lives. She not only gives readers a peek down the rocky path that led her to become a vocalist in a popular hardcore band, but she shows them that the same God is guiding their steps today.

I fell in love with this book. It is raw, emotional, truthful, and heart-wrenching. But - in all of that, it is also one of the best books I've ever read. I came away from each chapter looking at others in a way I didn't fully look at them before. I started seeing everyone as a someone who needed love - someone with a story. Everyone is worthy of love. Just like Jesus looks at me. Thank God for Lacey's life and the courage God has given her. I have no doubt this book will touch lives for years to come.

I'm not the type of person to read books at all. But this book helped me understand my life/our life is a life worth living for. God has a purpose for all of us. Only he can see it. I was raised Christian but slowly drifted away from it all. Following Lacey Sturm's music (flyleaf)and life story helped me realize it. (Even though i love alternative metal i never would have thought. I would ever have time to read a book about finding religion and peace with myself and with God.)

This book captures and describes the emotions and pitfalls of disaffected youth so well. I really could identify with the sadness and searching she experienced. I rejoiced in the truth of her revelations and am inspired to see how God has redeemed her and her life plan due to His love and her surrender. I am recommending this book to all youth and adults who truly struggle with anger and sadness.
