My outward journey, as will be seen by consulting the letters of travel in Part Third, led through England, France, and Italy to Egypt, and it included a visit of nearly two weeks to the principal objects of interest in Lower Egypt. I spent nearly two months in Palestine and Syria, visiting every part of Palestine, and seeing nearly every square mile of its territory.
