'Curses Start Somewhere' is the prequel to Laura Greenwood's "Grimalkin Academy: Kittens" series. It's an eye-catching series name, for sure, but in Ms. Greenwood style, it lays the groundwork for why the story takes place. Magda and Veronica, aka Ronnie, are both seniors at the academy where they are partnered up on a project to create a spellbook. Their goal? Getting on the honor roll. But when Ronnie submits the project with both names, the admission office makes a mistake and it's credited to her only. Now Magda wants revenge and it starts with a curse. This, as always, was a short, easy read but contained enough of a story to make me want to know what happens next.

What a great background story as to the start of the kitten curse. It's funny but gives more context to the series and how Mona came about the curse. It's short and entertaining. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
