This book is intended to provide an overview of “The Children of Israel” from a perspective not normally considered or known to most. For me, It started with my generation seven decades ago when the norm for Parents was to routinely go to church on Sundays and attend Sunday school with their children. Afterwards it became send the kids to Church alone because the parents had other things to do. Right away I had questions. If we were not part of God’s Chosen People, why should we go? Of course there was no answer to that except go because it would be good for you. These are the same parents who taught us about Santa Claus. How one man in a sleigh and 8 rain deer travel around the entire world in one night to deliver toys to all children. Then we were told about the tooth fairy who replaced lost teeth with money while you were sleeping. After you were a little older you were taught about the Easter bunny who laid eggs for you to find during a search through your yard or at the park. We were expected to believe in our parents and learn from them while they were the source of many lies. Because we were raised and reared on myth and lies it became very difficult to ascertain the truth about most things in our young lives. Considering that most kids were raised under similar circumstances I decided a book was needed to enlighten the masses regarding “The Children of Israel”. To trace the children of Israel we must start with Abraham’s son Isaac and his grandson Jacob, who after a life of deception and activity that would not normally be attributed to someone worthy of a connection to The Creator, to find it’s roots. When Jacob finally decided to repent and adhere to the teachings of his father and his grandfather he became so devout that The Creator sent an angel to change his name to Israel. Name changing had been established earlier by The Creator when Abram and Sarai had their names changed to Abraham and Sara when Sara was permitted to conceive Isaac after being barren for many years. We know that Israel had twelve sons. Ten by his first wife and two by his second wife and Joseph was the first born of the last two. From the time of his birth and as he was growing up around them, there was envy and animosity between the ten older brothers and Joseph. They believed that Israel loved Joseph more than any of them and he might be given the birthright which traditionally goes to the oldest son of the family. Initially they plotted to kill Joseph which ultimately changed to throwing him down in a well and selling him to an Egyptian Caravan. They told their father that a wolf devoured Joseph while they were playing and showed him a blood stained shirt supposedly with Joseph’s blood all over it. Now we have one of “The Children of Israel” in Egypt. Joseph initially began his new life as a slave to the Aziz of Egypt with several menial responsibilities in the household. After demonstrating many capabilities beyond what was expected of a slave Joseph was given additional responsibilities and was held in high esteem by the Aziz. As he aged he had come to be very handsome and had somehow become a sexual interest to the wife of the Aziz. After her many attempts to seduce him failed, she had him thrown into prison. It was while he was in prison some of the inmates found out about his gift of interpreting dreams. After a few years in prison one of Jacob’s inmates had been released and heard about a dream the Pharaoh had which could not be interpreted by either of his advisors. The fellow recently released from Prison told Pharaoh’s advisors about Joseph and his ability to interpret dreams. Joseph was allowed to interpret Pharaoh’s dream and as a result became one of the consultants near to pharaoh with power and authority over the food and grain supply of all Egypt. Consistent with Pharaoh’s dream the food and grain had become scarce for Egypt and all of the surrounding territories which necessitated nearby to
