The Levi Coffin story really needs to be told on a grand scale here in America. So many (especially today's youth) view the civil rights struggle as one sided. Many people both black and white played a hand in working towards freedom and for equal rights. This man devoted his life and risked his life and family members lives in doing what was right. This is a HUGE story and should be required reading in the public schools.....especially in Guilford county, NC where this man was born.

Levi Coffin was principled, disciplined, and dedicated to justice for slaves in America. The impossible stories of those he helped roll up into his own life story which is uniquely American, uniquely Quaker, and especially meaningful to those of us who know the Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana border areas well or who have ancestors who came into contact with him or those like him.
