The Gas-Chromatography injection stability of 2-methyl-3-furanthiol (MFT) and bis(2-methyl-3-furfuryl)disulfide (bis-MFT) in diethyl ether by cold-on-column injection was compared to hot splitless injection at different injection temperatures. Significant differences were seen in the relative peak areas for distilled MFT and bis-MFT between hot and cold-on-column injection. At temperatures of 200, 225, and 250°C the difference is small, however at 275 and 300°C the difference increases with a relative peak area decrease of 69 and 82% for MFT and 31 and 72% for bis-MFT, respectively.
