Black Ocean: Mirth & Mayhem looks back at an earlier era in the Black Ocean universe, and returning readers will get to see how some of their favorite characters came to be. Fans of morally gray heroes and slick talking conmen will love this series.

Black Ocean just keeps getting better…. Brad does a gig as a Ruckers thug-in-training while Mort is begrudgingly hired as a high-level hitman. Sounds basic, but the thrill-level of the Dark Ocean saga just keeps going up an up. I seriously can't get over how that snarky beginning has evolved into a real f&si-fi thriller. Love seeing fantasy and si-fi combined together like this. Not to mention the crime thriller element. Tell you what...I confess my paltry reviews don't do this series justice

Lots of details are being added to bridge the gab between Brad's childhood and his becoming the Carl we know from the rest of the stories. In this one, we get a good long look at Chuck's complete lack of moral compass and more confirmation that Mort does as Mort sees best. There's a glimmer of hope that Becky might not be a complete waste of space, but other than that, this family is a mess. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Mort and Chuck have gotten themselves mixed up in crime syndicate business. The Rucker Syndicate, one of, if not the most infamous crime families in the Black Ocean have a problem. The authorities have a snitch in their possession who could make problems for the family. Mort is hired to erase the "problem" and Chuck is along for the ride. Meanwhile, Brad is finding that the syndicate life and he are quite compatible.
