About this ebook

Someone is out for blood...

For Head Witch Zoe Clarke, everything has led to this moment. Since defeating a deadly organization of warlocks, Zoe has been enjoying some much-needed time off with her fiancé, Beau, and their newborn babies.

But after one of Zoe's colleagues is found drained dry, Zoe’s blood boils. And when threats of more attacks surface, Zoe realizes her enemies haven't finished with her yet.

From a new band of red-robed mages spreading propaganda to the growing rifts among her colleagues, Zoe’s convinced more blood will be spilled before it’s over — especially when another of her colleagues gets siphoned.

Will Zoe catch the killer red handed? Or will her efforts be like squeezing blood from a stone?

Bloodmages and Blackmail is the tenth book in the Magic and Mystery series of witch cozy mysteries. If you like meddling mages, blistering blackmail, and magical murder mysteries, then you’ll love this lighthearted tenth entry in Lily Webb’s spellbinding series.

Of Babies and Blood Draining I have followed this series from nearly the beginning (if not the beginning), and I've enjoyed seeing the many faces of the heroine as she has come into her own as a powerful witch. I found this book interesting as well, showing her as an exhausted new mom as well as Head Witch. The magical twins are a lot of fun; I loved the first scene with the nibbling shifter and the warning that a baby girl witch can cause a lot of havoc (although at this point in the story, it is not known what magic the infant girl will have). But our heroine has a lot more to deal with. While she and Beau have been enjoying their babies and not getting enough sleep, a creepy new cult has become a part of the town. When one of the council is found drained of blood, our heroine can't help but step in and try to help figure it out. As always, I enjoyed the diverse cast of characters in this series, all the magical happenings, and of course, the murder and other problems to figure out. The series is good enough to go back and read it from the beginning, but this book could be read as a stand-alone as the author does weave in necessary backstory so someone reading this book first will not be completely lost. Highly recommended. I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Zoe is still enjoying her maternity leave when some strange things start to happen. Beau shows her the two men in robes standing outside her house. Heath calls to inform of this situation and asks her to come back. Zoe decides that she is needs and goes to the meeting. Almost all the council members are there. They are trying to figure out what these people want especailly after the cryptic message they gave Heath. Zoe is surprised that one of the council members is not there. Zoe figures it is because of her opening and the issue. Zoe is starting to walk home when she hears a scream coming from the new art gallery. There is a lady there and the council Corrine is dead. She calls the police and starts to question the young lady name Gabrielle. The people in the robes are getting worse. Zoe is trying to track down suspects she is given. Zoe feels like she is not getting anywhere. She meets with a suspect and sees a council member there. She and Mallory are leaving when they hear the scream. Zoe is able to get one of the robe person before they are able to flee. The council member is in bad shape. Things get more interesting that with all the different suspects and the betrayal of person. Zoe's life will be on the line because of this person. Just find it weird that the author seemed to forget that the character can read minds and such. The character all of sudden changing. We will see what is next for this character. I do recommend reading this, you will find it an entertaining read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This really is a good series. Moon Grove has everything that a magical town needs. Zoey and Beau have a great relationship and I love the addition of the twins. A few books ago, I felt that Elle was an unnecessary character but she has grown on me. Everyone needs a southern grandmother like her. One of my favorite characters is Mitch. He gets a bad rap sometimes but he’s overall a good guy. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
