About this ebook

In my estimation Giftedness 101 ranks high among authoritative texts devoted to this particular population of children. It not only offers thorough experience and knowledge-based insights to those who are already or are contemplating serving the social emotional needs of these children in the future, but also those who profess to educate future teachers, those who would venture out into classrooms charged with the teaching and many others besides. It should be required reading for politicians - especially those who shape educational policy."--Gifted and Talented International

"Linda Silverman is an articulate, insightful, authoritative, and extremely "gifted" international expert in the assessment of giftedness...[She] has created a gem with Giftedness 101. The fields of psychology and education should welcome this vibrant book with open arms."

Alan S. Kaufman, PhD
Yale Child Study Center
School of Medicine

"This is a really terrific book! I'm really impressed at how much information has been packed into it, how accessible it is (without talking down to the audience), and how well the author has parsed the many key issues in the world of giftedness. Parents and mental health professionals with find this book incredibly useful. I look forward to sharing it far and wide. I think it is a book that was badly needed and will really fill a niche."

Corin Goodwin
CEO & Executive Director, Gifted Homeschoolers Forum

This is the most thorough history, explanation, and call to action for gifted advocates you will find."--Laughing at Chaos Blog

Give all the tools to grow and they'll know everyone has a gift to offer. Imagination is not some mystic thing reserved for some special club. There's too little respect for the development of mind. Herding the quote on quote "Gifted" off from the rest of those denied the promise of knowing their worth is not only insulting to them but also society as a whole. There's no special club, only the tools to mind growth. Anyone whom denies someone the right to look beyond their four corner has robbed them of themselves. No it can be written up an worded to kiln but in the end if all cannot know they are the gift unto themselves an this the many it's just favouritism. All educatutional system for the most part are skewed otherwise we'd value study skills as much as value math; creative writing tools thus all imaginative tools would be in the forefront of education. Only when we perceive poetry in math will we appreciate it's worth. I would love to have grasped unto mathematics but nobody told that it's music and poetry by all rights. Nobody gave us the study an reasoning skills to know that it's just numbers on a board. No, a child should be first told how to tell the story, have the tools to dicect everything they are to learned. Rote is hell! It is the root to genocide of the mind. Short of substance abuse an subliminal stunting, it denies generation the right to themselves. There are no gifted, just the denied and the lucky ones. No I'm nothing and I'm everything because I choose to learn how to imagine an this reason followed; I choose to dicect reason and this I knew I needed study skill; I choose to know and this I'll be learning more... There are no stupid people just people denied...
