Open--ended Terms: Magnetogasdynamics, MagnetoIonic Theory, Fluid Models. The posible modes of oscillation of a plasmaARE DETERMINED FROM THE LINEARIZED EQUATIONS OF THE TWO-FLUID MODEL. LINERIZION IS CARRIED OUT IN THE PRESENCE OF A STRONG STEADY MAGNETIC FIELD, AND ONLY WAVE PROPAGATION NORMAL TO THE MAGNETIC FIELD IS CONSIDERED. These equations determine the regimes of applicability for the single-f equations and the magnetoionic theory; and both theories are found to be special cases of the general equations. The linearized equations of the single-fluid model are used to investigate the interaction of a low frequency eleoagnetic wave with a semiinfinite plasma. The magneto-ionic theory is found to be a special case of the linezed two--fluid equations. (Author).
