Stunning, layer upon layer. A beautiful exploration of the codes and misdirections we use to both share who we are with those we love, and also hide ourselves. When is it safe to fully reveal ourselves? It's risky, always, the more so if we live in a time when who we are is somehow "incorrect". There are gems at every turn, both in the story and in the prose itself. A pleasure to read.
