Nana Malone has done it again writing a story that captured my attention from the very beginning. The book introduces Alexi and Abena exultant in their joy and love for one another. It then segues into the past taking the reader on the tumultuous journey the pair will take individually and together. Abena is a work in progress, finally choosing to put herself first. With newfound determination she takes charge of her life heading to London. Alexi has worked to secure his independence from his father, their relationship rooted in animosity. Alexi and Abena share a brief interaction, then meet again when their social circles intersect. They are drawn to each other a temptation that neither can resist. More similar than they realise, both bear scars emotional and physical that are maintained behind their public facades. Beyond the wonderful chemistry they share Abena and Alexi see in each other the possibility of something special. They will have to overcome their pasts, feelings of self doubt, and reticence. However their lives are complicated, dramatic and dangerous. There is a cliffhanger, which has left me eagerly awaiting the conclusion.

Nana Malone has done it again with characters that pull me right in and keep me reading until the end. Abbie and Lex are each running from their pasts, but from the moment they meet, they're drawn to each other. Fate seems to keep intervening as well, bringing them back together again and again. Yes, there is a cliffhanger at the end - hey, it is a duet, and I am anxiously awaiting the final book for these two...

This is book one of a new duet and I loved it. Things get off to a entertaining and emotional start as the well written story starts to unfold. I thought Abby and Lex were likable, complex characters. My heart bled for Abby and I am rooting super hard for this couple to get their HEA. As both these characters have emotional baggage, you know they have a bumpy road to travel. Drama, secrets, tension, suspense, danger, emotional turmoil and an intense attraction keep things interesting and hold your attention really well. Can't wait for book two.
