Thanks go to the publisher and Net-Galley for the electronic copy of Strong, Silent Cowboy by Lora Leigh. I voluntarily agreed to read and review this book. My opinions are my own and nothing has influenced them. Strong, Silent Cowboy has several redeeming aspects to the story. The pacing remained steady throughout the tale. However I did have issues with the time line. Sometimes it was 3 nights and other times it was one night. Sometimes it was a couple years and other times it was three. Those issues pulled me from the book. Sallie Hamblin is the heroine of this story, and she has several traits I enjoy in a female lead. One thing I did like about her, she’s more mature than the typical heroine in a romance. That was refreshing. Jacob Donovan is a great hero. He’s ex- CIA and now he just wants to live on his ranch, but when things quickly heat up between him and Sallie, he steps in to her help her. I also enjoyed the camaraderie between him and his friends. There’s no doubt Ms. Leigh knows how the heat up the sheets between the hero and heroine. The passion between them is electric. While I’m not super enthused over graphic sexual scenes, Ms. Leigh are well written and move the story along. If you enjoy hot cowboys, and a plot with plenty of fire, then Strong, Silent Cowboy may be the perfect romance for you. I can definitely understand why her book are well received. Happy reading!

I enjoyed this story with all the twists and turns. Sallie/Kyra was running for her life without knowing why. The strength she showed in surviving on her own, trying to keep others from being hurt on her account, made her a remarkable woman though she did not see it. Jacob was so protective of those around him, including Sallie, even though he could not remember her. The secondary characters made the story more fun as they interacted with Jacob and Sallie. I recommend this story, and I look forward to the next in the series. I received an ARC through Netgalley, and this is my unsolicited review.

As much as I enjoyed book 1 in this series, this one just didn’t meet my expectations. 1- Sallie/Kyra Hamblen and Jacob Donovan met and had a whirlwind three day affair in Switzerland when she was an innocent eighteen year old that grew up in a boarding school with nuns. Really? She fell in love and didn’t see him again. 2- We are told it was a 3 day affair, later we are told it was one night and then back to three nights. 3- Sallie comes face to face with him three years later, while she’s on the run and living in the same town as Jacob . But it took three additional years for them to see each other again? Not likely in the small town. 4 - I am all for the intimate scenes, but this one felt more like an erotica story with a plot thrown in for good merit. 5- As a reader, I would have preferred an epilogue that would tie up the story. It seems to me that the book needed some editing , more of the plot , less of the intimate scenes and more character development to make it a successful book. I respect the author, and though for me it was more of a 2.5 stars story, I am giving it 3 stars. I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and St. Martins. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
