I did enjoy this book more than the first in the series; however, the plot is very similar between the two. The relationship development between Ronnie and Jack did feel more authentic. There were some inconsistencies that I noticed, but they didn’t affect the overall story. It was intriguing and somewhat suspenseful; and did leave me guessing as to who was stalking Ronnie. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Another winner by Lori Foster. This is the second book in the series. I loved Ronnie and Jack because they complement each other. Ronnie is fiery and spunky. Jack is poised and calm except when it comes to Ronnie. She brings out another side of him. I loved the interaction between Ronnie and Jack's family. It's something she so deserves in her life. I also loved the animals in the book. It was good to see Howler still his adorably goofy self. Loved him with Peanut. It was one of my favorite things abut the book. The suspenseful parts kept me on the edge of my seat. They also had me pause my reading sort of like peeking through you're fingers to what was coming next. It's definitely a book that hooks you and won't let you resurface until you're finished.

I had not read any books by this talented author in a while and was anxious to give this one a try. I have to confess that at times I felt a little at a disadvantage, since I had not read book 1 in the series. Though the story line was interesting, the main female character, Ronnie/Ron/Veronica, for me, was not very likable. Yes, she had personal issues that were tragic, but her personification never allowed me to empathize with her. I found her too self-centered and rather nasty and in the end, ruined the book for me. Jack on the other hand, was likable and way too nice to her. So for his sake I finished the book. I am a fan of Ms. Foster and respect all the work authors put into their craft, and know as well, that opinions tend to be subjective. I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley.
