Six men with no memories of the past

One leader with no hope for the future

A man without a past

Jax woke up in a lab, his memories erased, and his mind reprogrammed to serve a mad woman’s will. After being liberated from his prison, he pledged himself to the only thing he truly knows—his team. Six men who lost everything they were. They must make certain no one else gets their hands on the drugs that stole their lives, all while hiding from every intelligence organization on the planet. The trail has led him to an unforgiving mountainside and a beautiful wilderness expert who may be his only hope of finding the truth.

A woman with a bright future

River Lee knows her way around the Colorado wilderness. She’s finally found a home in a place called Bliss after years lost in darkness. The nature guide prefers to show her clients the beauty found in the land, but she also knows the secrets the mountains hold. When she meets Jax, something about the troubled man calls to her. She agrees to lead him to the site of an abandoned government facility hidden deep in the forest. She never dreamed she was stepping into the middle of a battlefield.

A love that could heal a broken soul

Spending time with River, Jax discovers a peace he’s never known. Their passion unlocks a side of himself he didn’t even know he was missing. When an old enemy makes his first move, Jax and River find themselves fighting for their lives. But when his past is revealed, will River be caught in the crosshairs of a global conspiracy?

When two of your favourite series by an authour collide, you have high hopes. When the book more than surpasses those, you squee with delight. I’m squeeing right now because I loved everything about this story Set in Bliss, a small mountain town in Colorado, otherwise known as my happiest place on earth, a group of men without memories are on the run with a disgraced CIA agent Ezra Fain. They were rescued, and are protected, by McKay Taggart, and Ian is along for this ride as well. Jax is our focus, and he finds what he has been missing since he woke up and was rescued in River. River hasn’t had a great time in life, but she gives him a chance. A couple of chances, and then the evil Levi Green happens. But Jax and River aren’t as gullible as he thinks, and make it through River and Jax learn from each other, heal each other, and share some great messages between them. Death shows us life is worth living, and should be lived to the fullest. Love makes everything worthwhile, and a reason to go on and forward. Family and friends are choices, and how you look at the world determines how well you can live your life. I laughed with these two, I shed a few tears with them, and I felt the optimism and positivity they gave off, and I loved that I was along for their journey We also get more on Ezra’s background, a new player in the game, and the big game moves further ahead as chess pieces are moved. There is still so much in the big picture, the end game, that is driving the story forward, but for River and Jax, their future and HEA is set and solid!

5 Star Review of Memento Mori (Masters and Mercenaries: The Forgotten #1) by Lexi Blake The first in a new series spin off from the hugely popular Masters and Mercenaries. When I heard about this series I jumped at the chance to read. Rescued by McKay Taggart, 6 men wander the world no longer knowing their true identities. Used as experiments they have had their memories stripped from them and they all react in varying ways. This is Jax’s (formally known as Harvey)story and that of the woman who comes into his life River Lee. Now in the town of Bliss to investigate a long abandoned research facility Jax is tormented by his lack of a past and what he did while under the control of the mad doctor. However in Jax has found a little peace in Bliss. However when his past comes back to haunt him, danger will rear it’s head. Will Jax be able to keep River safe or will he lose the woman who has come to mean so much to him? Nobody does romantic suspense books like Lexi Blake. Memento Mori is filled with suspense, danger, intrigue and the growth of a deep and committed love; one that made my heart pound at times. Lexi Blake always ensure that her characters are never one dimensional or superficial and I was engrossed from the first chapter to the last. As always it was great to see some familiar faces pop into the book. I cannot wait to see what Ms.Blake has in store for the rest of The Lost Boys, The Forgotten… as they seek to find their past and in doing so find their future.

4.5 stars I am a huge Lexi Blake fan and having the chance to get my hands on Memento Mori was amazing. I usually have quite high expectations for Lexi's books and I was definitely not disappointed. The story line is quite intriguing and the characters are captivating. But ultimately, in my opinion it is the heartbreaking story of a man with no past and a future on the run. This is a story of survival despite all odds, a story of hope, a story for the search of love and happiness. It is a story of finding where you belong even when it feels like you are alone in the world. A beautiful story of finding your other half, your soulmate. In the beginning I felt like the story started a little bit slow for me and I needed to pass the first few chapters until I really get into it. But I can honestly say that I was a goner for Jax from the very beginning. I just loved his social awkwardness and even anxiety from time to time. He was just such a sweetheart when he was trying to impress River. And with every single chapter, I was getting more and more captivated by the story and the characters. It didn't hurt that there were appearances from favorite characters from Lexi's other series :) As this is a Lexi Blake book, and even better, part of the Masters & Mercenaries world, of course there is suspense and danger in it. There are twists, there are turns that I can guarantee you won't expect. It is pretty much, expect the unexpected. Even if you manage to figure out some of the twists (I am proud to say I figured one :D), there are others that are so well entwined with the story that once it happens, you are going to think about it and say "OMFG! That was there the whole time. How did I not notice it before?". But oh, well. That's how masterful Lexi Blake's writing is. Well, I think I will have to stop before I actually reveal something juicy from the story :D But I hope that I managed to catch your attention with my review and convinced you to pick yourself a copy of Memento Mori ASAP. I am sure you won't regret it. And as this is the first book in the series, you can just start with it :) So don't waste any more time. #1click it NOW. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
