「私の手のひらの蓮」 は、デバジット・ブヤンが作ったオリジナルのアッサム語詩集 「カラタラ・カマラ」 の翻訳です。オリジナルの本のユニークさは、サンスクリット語、アッサム語、ベンガル語、ヒンディー語、グジャラート語などのインドの言語で一般的に使用される カール (kar) を使わずに書かれていたことです。カール (kar) またはシンボルは、英語で使用される母音の代わりにインドの言語で使用されます。「私の手のひらの蓮」 はオリジナルのアッサム語の本をそのまま翻訳したものではありません。というのも、母音のA, E, I, O, Uを使わずに本を翻訳することは不可能だからです。オリジナルのアッサム語版から著者自身が翻訳したため、詩のテーマと意味だけがそのまま保たれています。「カラタラ・カマラ」でデバジット・ブヤンは2022年のコルカタ文学カーニバル (KLC) で今年の詩人として表彰されました。このスタイルを紹介したシャンカルデヴァの離脱から600年後、再びこのスタイルで書かれた初めての本としてオリジナルの本はアッサムで大変な人気を博しました。
