– Angel Erin’s Book Obsession

A daughter’s secret. A mother’s betrayal.

Every mother knows never to let their child out of their sight. But Freya has been distracted recently, and now her teenage daughter, Zoe, is missing.

Freya knows that the only way to bring Zoe back is to tell the truth, but when your whole life is built on secrets and lies, the truth could destroy everything.

Surely there’s no harm in telling just one more little white lie?

A gripping psychological thriller, perfect for fans of Louise Jensen, Linda Green and Claire Seeber.

Freya is having an affair ... with one of her college students. Robert is almost half her age, but she's been so neglected by her husband for so long. Her husband, Stephen, she suspects is having an affair of his own. He's cold to her, almost cruel. But the one person they love the most is their daughter, Zoe. Stephen throws money at her in order to keep her love. Freya tries and tries, but she's, at times, overwhelmed with guilt. And then Zoe goes missing. Stephen has been out of town working ... hasn't he? Freya was spending time with her lover and missed her daughter's call. So it was a couple of days before Zoe was missed. The only way the police can find Zoe is by telling the truth .. and that's the one thing that Freya can't do. Did she run away? Was she taken against her will? And things take a turn for the worse when information about Zoe comes to light. Why didn't her parents see these things? How could they not know? This is a psychological thriller that starts building in suspense from the first page. I have to admit I didn't like the characters .. they all had issues and were dealing very badly with each other and things that were happening around them. Sometimes having all irredeemable characters works, as it did here. The only thing I found unacceptable was the ending. The book was suspenseful right up until the very end ... and then it collapsed (in my eyes). I wish to thank the author / HQ Digital / Netgalley for providing a digital copy of this book. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
