Castille can definitely weave an amazing plot and it doesn’t seem to matter the topic! Luca is the second installment in the Ruin & Revenge series and while it can be read as a standalone, I personally think you would get more out of it if you were to start with Nico. The author does a great job at making it a standalone but I think you would just get a little more background. Luca’s book also contains some spoilers for Nico’s book. Luca has finally met his match, in all ways! He’s a powerful mafia boss in Las Vegas and has spent his life trying to restore his family’s honor. A smooth talker, he’s used to being able to charm any woman with just a few words, although he typically doesn’t even have to try. Until Gabrielle. She’s independent and has one sole purpose in life, revenge. They are the most unlikely of couples and in the eyes of the mafia, forbidden, because Gabrielle is a Las Vegas Narcotics Detective. But their chemistry and attraction to each other is instant and explosive! This is one of the HOTTEST books I’ve read to date!! No lack of steam here! I loved Luca and his domineering alpha ways. Gabrielle is too determined and goal oriented to fall for his caveman act but once he decides that he wants her for himself, that’s all there is to it, it’s done. Gabrielle’s characteristics, her personality are perfect for this story. I love the way that they eventually work together to achieve the same goal and in the process, Gabrielle realizes that revenge isn’t as important as it used to be. “Luca had awakened something in her that made the world seem bright again.” That statement goes the both ways because she does the same for Luca. This was a fantastic story with an unexpected reveal at the end. There were some questions that were rolling around in my mind throughout and I kept thinking that it would’ve been nice to get a little POV from the “bad guy” but, of course, Castille wrapped it up perfectly and answers it all in the end. By the end, I think that POV would’ve ruined the plot for me. She even made me like Frankie in this book and that was no easy feat. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series so I can read his full story!

Wow! Sexy and hot - I almost feel like I need a cigarette and I don't even smoke! Gabrielle is a police detective searching for the man that killed her husband when she is shot in the line of duty. She encounters a sexy as sin Italian man at the hospital, Luca, who is also recovering from a gunshot. Before long they have a sexy encounter that could jeopardize her career, however, once is not enough and soon they are both smitten. Too bad Gabrielle doesn't know his a mafia capo and that Luca doesn't know that she's a cop. The police department has rules and so does the mafia - at the top of the mafia list is no consorting with cops. This novel has it all - a compelling story, a great mystery, and sexiness so hot my kindle was sizzling. If you enjoy the genre, you will LOVE this book! Just we warned, this is not for younger readers as it contains naughty and explicit sexual scenes. While this is part of a series, this is a stand alone book.

'Luca' by Sarah Castille is Book Two in the "Ruin & Revenge" series. This is the story of Gabrielle Fawkes and Luca Rizzoli. I have read the previous book but I feel this can be a standalone book if you wish to do so. Gabrielle is a detective that is looking into activities in a drug cartel along with avenging her husbands death. Luca is in a crime family and a ladies man. But these two finding their attraction to hard to ignore. But can these two from the opposite side of the road have allot to overcome to get to their happy ending. I enjoyed Luca being the strong man that he was and trying to protect Gabrielle. But Gabrielle was an even stronger person and she tried to protect him too. This has been such a great and exciting series! "My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."
