Between one and two million people in the United States are known to have lupus. But many more people may have it and not know it. She has coauthored numerous science textbooks, written dozens of award-winning educational videos, and contributed to an eight-volume middle school encyclopedia on diseases. During her fourteen years with the Westchester County Department of Health in New York State, she directed programs in HIV/AIDS education and HIV testing.
