I received a copy of this book from BookishFirst. I just loved this book! If you’re into British mystery shows and Agatha Christie, you would love this. In fact, I was talking about it to my husband and he said he’s seen the movie or series, I can’t remember which one was made. I do know there is a series out with Jane Tennison. I’m going to find it and watch it. I admired how Jane was a cop during a time when it was all male. No matter how hard they made it on her or what they would say to her, she stuck it out. Her boss was rotten but she never talked back. She earned respect from quite a few men. I would’ve turned tail and ran crying. There were areas where the book seemed to slow down but not enough to deter from reading. I think it was needed because it was parts that were more personal. I fell in love with some of the characters and there were parts that broke my heart. I can’t reveal anything because it would spoil it, but those parts were needed to make it all the more real and true to real life. It was nice to read a book set in the 70s before cell phones and advanced techniques in crime solving. It brought a sense of nostalgia.

I have read the actual book and I must say the story is really great. It was a coaster of emotions but above all of those, I was left heartbroken. I truly love the characters, Jane and Bradfield, and how the setting made me imagine that I am on the past.
