M H Major (1919-1996) was a native Texan and an active geologist in Corpus Christi, Texas from the forties through the eighties. In 1992 he wrote It was Fun While it Lasted, a memoir about his childhood during the Depression and his experiences hunting oil in South Texas.
Besides being M. H. Major’s daughter, Margaret Ann Major Cleaves is a USA Today bestselling author, who writes under the name Ann Major. She has written more than 75 romance novels.
Ann lives in Corpus Christi, Texas and is fascinated by the vast ranches, the oil industry, and the vital clash and blend of the Hispanic and Anglo cultures. This locale provides the backdrop for many of her novels.
Ann holds a B.A. in English and Spanish from the University of Texas as well as her M.A. from Texas A&M.
She published for Dell, Silhouette Books, Mira Books, and Harlequin before retiring in 2014 to pursue a career in Indie publishing.
Of all her accomplishments Ann feels proudest that she is a founding board member of Romance Writers of America.
