西武鉄道「西武球場前」駅で下車。久しぶりに球場を見てから、まずは駅から通りを挟んだ向こう側、「狭山不動尊」を散策。せっかくなので「山口観音」へ足を延ばし、さらに「多摩湖」を眺めてから目的地へ向かう。最後の小道を抜けていくと遂に「狭山湖」が見えてきた。ここの取水塔はとても美しくネオ・ルネッサンス様式レンガ造りで、円筒に丸いドーム屋根。静かな湖の向こうには山々も連なっている。
