About this eBook

Pro tip: Never volunteer for anything. That's the first thing they told me in flight school.

It's 2037. I'm Mike Williams, but you can call me 'Magnet', and I'm a fighter pilot on the TFR Sydney. Our flight leader, Iron, has a mission: Volunteer only. It's the usual gig. High risk, lots of unknowns, an opportunity to make history or die trying. Hopefully the former, but sometimes it's a little of column A, a little of column B, you know?

The mission's going to a place no Human's been, hoping to earn ourselves some desperately needed allies. Pretty simple on paper. Fly out to a rendezvous at a distant world, pick up an alien and take him to his blushing bride.

Although, come to think of it, I don't know if psychotic waist-high reptilians can blush.

A 13,700-word story in the Lacuna universe, set after the events of Magnet but suitable for reading as a stand-alone story.

Parts of the Lacuna universe:

Magnet
Magnet: Special Mission
Magnet: Marauder
Magnet: Scarecrow (new release!)
Magnet: Omnibus One (new release!)
Imperfect
Faith

The Lacuna series:

Lacuna
Lacuna: The Sands of Karathi
Lacuna: The Spectre of Oblivion
Lacuna: The Ashes of Humanity
Lacuna: The Prelude to Eternity (coming soon!)

If you see this, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! Novella my backside. A short, short story has more words. Great little story, well told. But MAYBE worth 99 cents, which I would pay for a John Grisham or David Drake short. The freebie was definitely Just a hook. Won't spend another penny on this shyster.

the sample is merely a few pages, and it really says nothing about the content, except perhaps that it will be ridiculously short story.

The whole story is about 120 pgs long. It's a good one but a rip off.

About the author

I've always been thinking of stories for as long as I've been alive. I have way, way, way too many to tell and far too little time to tell them.

It was only in 2011 that I actually started shaping and weaving those random, jumbling, chaotic masses of thoughts into coherent narratives and began self-publishing.

I write a little science fiction, a little fantasy, a little humour and comedy, and a few other things all over the place.
