For Manchester United, the winning of the European Cup in 1968 was the fulfillment of a dream. Sir Matt Busby had seen his hopes of winning the competition in 1958 shattered by the Munich Air Disaster. His quest in 1968 was to become the first team in England to win the trophy, whilst dedicating it to those who died at Munich.
