About this ebook

A trained assassin…a man even the deadliest of warriors fear. To cross him is foolish. To steal his heart is pure madness.

Sachin, head advisor to the king of the Accipitridae realm, has been forced to put his trips to Earth on hold. He’s not been honest with himself or King Kabril about his need to visit the primitive planet. The king thinks him to be a womanizer, out to bed as many human females as possible.

In truth, a woman he should have been able to woo with little to no effort—his mate—has found someone else to fill that void in her life. She wasn’t supposed to be on Earth. She wasn’t supposed to be human. And she sure the hell wasn’t supposed to agree to marry another man while Sachin was away.

Sachin must make a choice, give up the one woman he knows to be his true mate and let her live in ignorant bliss of what walks among her people, or fight for what’s his, taking it at all costs. A trained assassin…a man even the deadliest of warriors fear. To cross him is foolish. To steal his heart is pure madness.

★★★★★ 5 Stars--"A refreshing difference in a shifter story for me. Roth definitely captured my interest first with the cover and then with the story itself."

Poor Sachin did not have an easy time with wooing his mate, especially since she had someone else. An entertaining story. Loved it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout in exchange for an honest review.

Had to read book 2 after 1 and now starting on 3. They are addicting. I started reading shifter books a few months ago and now love them. I so wanted to read Sachin's story after meeting him in book 1. He got so much pleasure and humor in watching his friend and King get zapped by a human woman. He decided human women had their purpose and became "acquainted" with many. He met one who had an effect on him he didn't want to admit, but she was too young. He'd saved her and couldn't take advantage of her feelings for him--until he did several years later. The story doesn't end there. They both have some growing up to do. Neither wants to admit their destiny. And how they end up is for you to read. Ms Roth is good at planting seeds and then not taking you to the see if the plant grew, sending you to another part of the garden all together. A good read, can't wait for the next one.

Sachin and Paige met when he rescued her from the man that killed her mother. He had kept in contact with her and Sarah, the woman that he had brought her to, and fallen deeply for his mate. Then a situation that scared him happened and things went wrong for a time. The characters are terrific, with great backstories and intense feelings. The storyline had several plots, with the war happening back home, the relationship with Paige and Sachin, and the local tales of bird men. Loved their chemistry, but he had little faith that Paige would be able to handle what he was when they became mated. The magic on the sheriff was interesting, and no talking needed. Great ending... it is always the big macho guys that faint quickly.. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout in exchange for an honest review.

About the author

NY Times & USA TODAY Bestselling Author of the Daughter of Darkness, Grimm Cove, and the Immortal Ops Series!

Mandy M. Roth grew up fascinated by creatures that go bump in the night. From the very beginning, she showed signs of creativity--writing, painting, telling scary stories that left her little brother afraid to come out from under his bed. Combining her creativity with her passion for the paranormal has left her banging on the keyboard into the wee hours of the night.

She's a self-proclaimed Goonie, loves 80s music and movies, and wishes leg warmers would come back into fashion. She also thinks the movie The Breakfast Club should be mandatory viewing for... okay, everyone. When she's not dancing around her office to the sounds of the 80s or writing books she can be found designing book covers for NY publishers, small press and indie authors.
