About the author

Manohar Purohit, born in Karnataka and settled in Solapur, Maharashtra, is a retired lecturer. He has taught subjects of structural engineering and has also guided many students for MPSC examinations. He is a life member of the Institution of Engineers (India), MIE, and the Indian Society for Technical Education, MISTE.

Music, Mathematics, Astrology, Astronomy, reading Sanskrit and Kannada epics are his hobbies. 

He is a multifaceted musician with the titles of ‘Sangeet Alankar’ and ‘Sangeet Kalaaravinda’, able to play many musical instruments like Sitar, Santoor, Violin, Flute, Harmonium and Tabla.

In Astrology, he holds the tiles of Jyotishya Visharad and Jyotishya Shastri. He is also a good computer programmer. All the illustrative examples and the images in this book have been generated by his computer programs.

Around twenty years ago, when he had taken interest in Astronomy, he had found no book on the subject available in any of the libraries or book stores. He had studied the subject from various sources and decided to write a book. This book is the result of his hard work.
