State of Shock is a fantastic roller coaster of a story. That picks up where State of the Union left off. With Sam, Nick and their family and close friends spending a much needed weekend relaxing at Camp David. Until Spencer, Angie's husband and Sam's brother-in-law is found unresponsive and Nick's medical team struggle to resuscitate him. Which leads Sam to open an investigation that is both difficult, baffling and heartbreaking. As healthy young men and women are dropping dead all over the capital. Thanks to spiked drugs and Sam is determined to catch them no matter the professional cost. But with her family falling apart and no Skip Holland to steady the ship Sam is struggling to cope. And Nick is feeling the weight of responsibility and his office like never before. Yet, no matter what is thrown at them and their respective teams. They all come out fighting and have each others backs. And with great characters, mystery, suspense, sadness and real-life issues. State of Shock was a fantastic read. That I'd one hundred percent recommend to all. But make sure you have your tissues at the ready.

Another roller coaster ride from Marie Force but let me just say this is the ride you want to jump on!!!! This book picks up right where State of the Union finishes so please make sure you have read that one before starting State of Shock. I went through every emotion as I joined Sam, Nick and the rest of the gang trying to piece together why another tragedy has hit them but as Sam goes into full Detective mode she uncovers a series of overdoses that were not accidents …..

All the First Family series that I have read are superb.. Certain chapters brought tears to my eyes, but it was worth it.. Can't wait for book # 5 !!

About the author

Marie Force was born in Newport, Rhode Island and grew up in neighboring Middletown. She graduated from Middletown High School in 1984, and attended the University of Rhode Island, where she double majored in both journalism and political science. She graduated in 1988 and went to work for a local community newspaper, where she learned a great deal about writing and editing. Marie went on to earn a master's degree in public administration through a program offered by the University of Maryland. Before becoming a full-time author, she worked as a communications director for a non-profit organization and editor-in-chief of a national trade magazine. She is a member of RWA's New England, From the Heart and Published Authors Special Interest Chapters. She is the author of several bestselling series including the McCarthys of Gansett Island, Green Mountain, the Treading Water Trilogy and The Fatal Series. In 2015, her novel And I Love Her was listed on the New York Times Bestseller list.
