About the author

Mark Peters is an author and language expert. A member of the American Dialect Society, he has a PhD in English and has written numerous articles on language for Esquire, Forbes, Mental Floss, Slate, Columbia Journalism Review, and Visual Thesaurus, many of them humorous in nature. For McSweeney’s, he writes a regular joke column, and he maintains Psychology Today’s humor blog, Laughing Stock. He is the author of Grammar and Style (Idiot's Guides).
