The plot was fine, but the author has an annoying tendency to have random characters appear in a scene with no previous explanation as to how they got there. And to insert wholly new characters into the story with no explanation, either. Literally right in the middle of a conversation, the author will have someone pipe up who had never been introduced. It was very annoying.

Quick & dirty review: an uneven story (compressed in parts, stretched out in others) that just never felt cohesive. I will not be reading the sequels.

Took a lot of reading to progress to the intersting parts. Not my 1st rodeo of the primise of the type of "the other" alien life form. A good read .
