Alex Irvine was tagged as a writer to watch when he won the 2002 Locus and International Horror Guild awards for A Scattering of Jades, his first novel. Since then, he’s written a handful of other novels (Buyout, The Narrows, and One King, One Soldier), plus a pair of short story collections. He made the leap into super-hero fiction with the novels Batman: Inferno and The Ultimates: Against All Enemies. His comics work includes the MAX miniseries Hellstorm: Son of Satan with artist Russell Braun and Daredevil Noir with Tomm Coker. He also writes the games Marvel: Avengers Alliance, Marvel War of Heroes, and Marvel Puzzle Quest. After finishing his PhD at Denver University, Irvine taught American literature and creative writing at the University of Maine from 2005–11.
