He is the author of many books, including the groundbreaking Renaissance Self-Fashioning, also published by the University of Chicago Press, Will in the World: How Shakespeare Became Shakespeare, and The Swerve: How the World Became Modern, winner of the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award.
