About this ebook

Searching for answers. Fighting to stay alive.

Chicago is in a state of chaos. Demons and hybrids are consuming the city. Soldiers and vampires are trying to save lives while angels battle demons. But there are too many to fight. Something big is about to happen.

I’m back to get my name cleared, find my mother, and locate the vampire who deadened my memories. I need answers. Why did my mother abandon me if I’m the only one who can open the gates? Why did I have memories altered? My list of questions continues to grow.

I want to fight, to destroy demons, but it’s too risky. As the last Gatekeeper, my life is more important than anyone’s. I must train and learn while civilization continues to deteriorate. More people are dying. The only way to stop the demons is to open the gates.

If only I knew how…

This second book in The Gatekeeper series hits the ground running, picking up from the jaw-dropping cliffy in book one. Alex is determined to find answers and is short on allies. She does get some of those answers, but they don't come cheap, and there are some losses along the way. Angel Reality action driven with Alex and company moving from one bit of danger to the next. There is no shortage of battles in this one, and it's impossible not to get caught up in it all. Then we have the colorful characters who make up this tale of good versus evil. Love them or hate them, and I'll admit that I'm still on fence about some, they all add something to the story. Whether it's information, help in the ongoing fight against demons, or something as simple as companionship, each character is important. There are also some surprises along the way, one of the biggest being where some supernaturals place their loyalties, and I'm sure there are plenty more in store for us as the series progresses. I don't read much post-apocalyptic fiction, so I really have very little to compare this to, but I do know I've thoroughly enjoyed both parts of this series, and I can't wait to see what's next for these characters. I would thing this series would appeal to anyone who enjoys urban fantasy and/or post-apocalyptic stories.
