About this ebook

To boldly go where no cat or dog has gone before…

Join Captain Pierre Jacques and the intrepid crew of the Starship Initiative on their grand journey through the universe. In addition to the loyal dogs and clever cats onboard, meet an Ursine exchange officer and a photosynthetic green otteroid from the planet Cetazed, not to mention the only android in the fleet—an androgynous arctic fox.

In this episodic novel, you will encounter alien races, strange worlds, technological malfunctions, and an all powerful trickster in the form of a Cheshire cat. Get ready for a ride of discovery, awe, and wonder from the Ursa Major Award-winning author of the Otters In Space trilogy.

About the author

Mary E. Lowd lives in Oregon with her husband, daughter, son, a variety of cats and dogs, the occasional fish, and zero otters. She spends the majority of her time pretending animals can talk and writing stories about them.

Mary started her first novel at the age of eleven; it bore a striking resemblance to Brian Jacques' Redwall, replete with little woodland animals eating feasts and battling each other with swords. Her next abandoned novel had more in common with The Pride of Chanur by C.J. Cherryh, featuring first contact with a race of space-faring feline aliens. Her first finished novel was Otters In Space. The Otters In Space series (and its spin-off In a Dog's World) are the inevitable culmination of a childhood spent watching Star Trek: The Next Generation and Lady and the Tramp.

In addition to her novels, more than eighty of Mary's short stories have been published. Her short fiction has won an Ursa Major Award and two Cóyotl Awards.
