About this ebook

Does life feel futile? Your failures fatal? And the grave the final stop? If so, there is a truth greater than all the losses and sorrows of life that can be discovered in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

This truth was all realized in the course of a single day. A single Friday. All accomplished during six hours, one Friday.

In Six Hours One Friday you will delve deeply into the meaning of Jesus' last hours on the cross. Through his death, your life has purpose and meaning. You are forgiven and loved by a Savior who died for you. And an empty tomb proclaims that death does not have the final word.

In this book, pastor and New York Times bestselling author Max Lucado encourages us that Jesus bring us:

  • Peace where there should be pain.
  • Confidence in the midst of crisis.
  • Hope that defies despair.

Does death have the last word? Jesus winks as he answers, “Not on your life."

This was a wonderful book to use as a Bible study or devotional through Lent, the weeks preceding Easter. I picked it up as there was a video Bible study offered on line, and it sounded like one that I could learn from. There is much to glean in this powerful study. Along with Mind Anchors, Soul Anchors, and Life Anchors in each chapter, there is a tale of what each of the people from Jesus’ days on earth could have thought and endured or of modern-day examples with several thought-provoking questions that help the reader look at his/ her life in more depth. Especially powerful are the readings that include Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection. One thing I found helpful is, in the first chapter, identifying five life anchors to list and hold onto for “those times”. One of “those times” has bee active in my life, and as I discovered one new anchor for this season, I have had God’s sufficient grace and Jesus’ strength, even while knowing that nothing can take me out of my Shepherd’s hands. I highly recommend Six Hours One Friday for any time of year, any season of life. Do the study during the times when life is good, or when life is hard. There is something there for you, waiting, a new gift from the Lord, even as there has been for this reader.

I guess I had larger expectations from this Max Lucado book. Good book - but definitely not great...
