This volume examines the global media coverage of the armed conflict in Ukraine, focusing on the marginalization of dissident perspectives in the West and the information quality and diversity on social media.

Along with presenting original, empirical studies on how mainstream media in countries as diverse as Israel, the Czech Republic, Ghana, and the Netherlands have covered the conflict between NATO and Russia since 2022, this book sheds light on the role of the state and the media in policing the boundaries of permissible thought on the conflict in the West, as well as in Russia and Ukraine. Tabe Bergman is Associate Professor at Xi’an Jiaotong- Liverpool University in Suzhou, China. He was a journalist with the Associated Press before he became an academic. He completed his PhD at the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign. His research interests are in global journalism, specifically the coverage of foreign affairs by the Western media.

Jesse Owen Hearns- Branaman is Associate Professor of International Journalism and the Head of the Department of Communication at Beijing Normal University- Hong Kong Baptist University United International College. His research interests include post- structuralism, ideology, critical linguistics, political economy of news, comparative journalism, tourism, and epistemological theory.
