About this ebook

In the midst of supernatural chaos, worlds and hearts collide.

Celia: Having never known my parents, I’ve always felt like an orphan. All I want is a normal life. But after I’m attacked in my bedroom by one vampire—and rescued by another—it’s about time to give up on “normal” once and for all. Idris, the second in command of the Gregorie vampire clan, has come to my aid, but his motives for saving me are unclear. And what surprises me most is my attraction to his heated gaze. . . .

Idris: Terror. Curiosity. Arousal. These are the natural impulses of a human female, not the spawn of the ruthless Valarian king. Is it possible that Celia is unaware of her bloodline—and the power coursing through her veins? As the daughter of my archenemy, she was supposed to be my ransom. But how quickly the heat of desire changes everything. Now the family Celia has always craved is trying to kill her, and it’s up to me to save her again—when all I really want to do is make her mine.

Blood Veil is a thrilling read with some sexy characters that will take your breath away! First, let me tell you that I have not read the 1st book in the series as I somehow missed it (I will be rectifying that asap) and I still really enjoyed Blood Veil but I think that Blood Guard should probably been read first to achieve maximum understanding of Megan Erickson’s very intriguing world. But like I said, it didn’t stop me from enjoying the book without reading it, I just think that the events leading up to this character’s book would have helped to get a more complete picture the world and to fully understand what drives the characters. Now on to my opinion of Blood Veil – Celia and Idris are strong, captivating characters with sizzling chemistry and a heavy-duty attraction that readers can practically feel vibrating from every page, their romance rocky due to some seemingly unresolvable issues and of course the fear of the unknown which draws readers in and keeps them focused on the events throughout the book. The fast paced plot keeps readers on the edge of their seats throughout the book with suspense and thrills and surprising twists that keeps readers guessing and the supporting characters are lively and compelling with some bad guys that makes readers want to shoot them themselves. Megan Erickson brings her very intriguing world of vampires to life with vivid imagery, fascinating characters and some unique elements that add spice and intrigue to her world which means that I will definitely be coming back for more as I was completely enthralled with this Mission novel.

This second book in Megan Erickson's Mission series brings all the action and adventure that we saw in Blood Guard only this one is more of an enemies to lovers romance. The conflict between the Gregorie Valarian clans is what brings Idris and Celia together with the twist that Idris has plans to use her for revenge and Celia has no idea of who she even is, let alone knowing anything about vampires. Of course, nothing goes as planned, which is to be expected and was certainly predictable with this type of story. Regardless of the predictability of certain things in the book, the endearing characters and witty dialogue, along with a fast-paced storyline held my interest from start to finish. Idris makes quite the journey from brooding vampire deadset on revenge to doing what is best for his family and clan, and Celia is the very definition of a damsel in distress who learns what it means to love and sacrifice. Blood Veil can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend starting at the beginning to get the impact of Erickson's vampire world and it's wonderful characters.

Megan Erickson does not disappoint in the second installment of the Mission series. In Blood Veil we get a closer look at the brother who was groomed to be King of the Gregorie. Under his father's rule, Idris was raised to be King and to follow in his honorable footsteps. Then it was revealed that his father was not so honorable after all and Idris suffered for the betrayals he made against his own clan. Idris is determined to exact revenge on the clan that turned his father against his own people, and Celia Valerie will make the perfect pawn to his plans. I was excited to get to read Idris' story. He was a strong alpha warrior even after everything that went down in the first book, Blood Guard. His single minded goal of revenge was a bit tiresome at times, considering I thought he was the nicer of the two brothers. Boy was I wrong, neither brother is nice!!! But not in a bad way, well not completely anyway. Idris, like Athan, will do whatever it takes to assure that those he cares about are safe and well taken care of. He is lethal and drop dead sexy, a devastating combination. Celia is someone that has been left alone for most of her life. Raised in foster homes and with few friends she is a character that I want to protect from all the evil in the world. She is sweet and kind, the way she visited with Charlie really gave the feel of the person she was. But what I really loved about Celia as a character is that Megan gave her panic attacks, and they were related in such a realistic way that I related to what was happening. I have loved both books in this series and I cannot wait for more! Megan's leap into paranormal romance, if you ask me, has been extremely successful and proven her worth as an author. 4.5 stars **Review by Amy W., Late Night Reviewer for Up All Night w/ Books**

About the author

Megan Erickson is a USA Today bestselling author of romance that sizzles. Her books have a touch of nerd, a dash of humor, and always have a happily ever after. A former journalist, she switched to fiction when she decided she liked writing her own endings better. She lives in Pennsylvania with her very own nerdy husband and two kids. Although rather fun-sized, she’s been told she has a full-sized personality. When Megan isn’t writing, she’s either lounging with her two cats, named after John Hughes, characters or . . . thinking about writing.
