I wanted to start out with just one thorough, but easy to understand book that I could refer to as I learned to knit. My friend recommended this book and it's exactly what I needed. Each project was obviously carefully chosen by the author/designer to reinforce and build on the skills taught in the book. I’m going to work my way through all of them. I didn’t find a single pattern I didn’t like! Even if you have never knit a stitch, if you follow the steps Ms Goodacre outlines, by the end you'll be reading knitting patterns and charts, knitting tons of beautiful stitch patterns, cables, lace, colorwork and more. And you'll have several lovely, useful items to show off your new skills. She thought of everything a new knitter needs, even how to fix the inevitable newbie mistakes. I'm very happy with this purchase.
