About this ebook

“A riveting and original serial-killer saga that will keep you frantically turning pages to the hair-raising conclusion.”

~Bestselling Author Emerald O’Brien

A ruthless serial killer. A tormented detective. One chance to save his best friend.

Fresh off leave after a justified shooting, Edward Petrosky is battling his own brain as much as he is the world around him. His ex-wife has finally stopped calling, and he’s even pulled away from his neighbors. The chief of police might be the only person helping to keep Petrosky sober.

When a woman is found dead near a local running trail, the city goes on high alert. Not only was the victim posed, but her body had been altered as if a crazy plastic surgeon had taken a scalpel to her. This killer is meticulous, careful—in Petrosky’s experience, the most dangerous kind of psycho. But then a second victim turns up, and she hasn’t been mutilated in quite the same way. Strange for a perfectionist suspect. Had the perp been interrupted, or is there a more sinister explanation? Perhaps they’re dealing with a copycat, or a pair of killers—the citizens of Ash Park might be in more peril than Petrosky had anticipated.

But when the chief of police is abducted, the case shifts into unchartered territory. The killer they’re after doesn’t just want to play with his victims—he wants notoriety. And the only way he’ll get it is if Petrosky opens up about the case, a move that could put the chief’s life in more danger.

And that’s a risk Petrosky cannot take. Petrosky’s only shot is to find their perp before the maniac slices into his boss—the only friend he hasn’t managed to push away. Can he catch the killer and muzzle his demons? Or will this case awaken the devil he’s been trying to silence?

Although this book is 8th in the series, I feel like it could be read as a standalone. I enjoyed seeing Petrosky's real feelings be portrayed and not just snark; not that I don't enjoy that as well. But in this book, we got to see a deeper side to him, and it made me feel more attached. I like a flawed hero who tries to do good and potentially better themselves, and that is exactly who Petrosky is. It was nice to see that side played out. I also enjoyed Jackson, Petrosky's partner, getting her own story as well. The banter between the two of them provides the dark and serious matter of the story with some much-needed levity. This particular storyline felt fresh and new to me. I enjoy the psychology behind the characters' actions, it makes it more believable. I did wish that I had slightly more insight into the killer's mind, but I am wondering if they won't make a reappearance in future books. Overall, this book was intriguing and kept me turning the page. When it was over, I felt like I needed more, so I am anxiously awaiting the next book.

Petrosky, our favourite curmudgeonly detective is at it again! The pressures of this investigation, on the heels of his previous case are making him question himself, just as his partner is suddenly finding this investigation much more personal than she ever thought it could be. Twists and turns abound in this fantastic installment in the Ash Park series by the brilliant Meghan O'Flynn.

Composed: An Ash Park Novel (Volume 8) by Meghan O'Flynn Was a great 5 star read. I was pulled in right from the beginning. We get so many twists and turns that will throw you off. I couldn’t put it down. Edward continues to battle his demons while searching for a serial killer. The killer seems to be following a pattern and when his boss gets kidnapped things take a huge twist. WIll he find the twisted killer before it’s too late? Overall this was a great thrilling read. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was coming next. If you're looking for a great series that pulls you in this is the one for you. 1-click and get started today.
