About this ebook

Stand-alone Wishing Well romance, complete with HEA—and plenty of heat and heart along the way!

Bentley

Maisy Turner and I had been butting heads since we were five years old. That girl knew every one of my buttons and loved to push ’em. Folks like to say that we have a love/hate relationship, but I’ve never felt much of the love...from her side, anyway.

So when I got roped into working side by side with her, I was expecting sparks to fly—I just thought they’d be from us rubbing each other the wrong way, not the right one...

Maisy

When scandal broke in Wishing Well and I was called in to right the wrongs, I jumped at the chance to step up and finally be seen as an individual, and not just, “one of the Turner triplets.” I was prepared to do whatever it took to advance my career and stand on my own two feet...even if it meant working side by side with the only person in town I couldn’t stand.

Bentley Calhoun had been a thorn in my side since kindergarten. He was like a rash that wouldn’t go away—an annoying itch that drove me crazy. Problem with itches was, it felt so good to scratch ’em.

Author’s Note: This is a slow burn, enemies-to-lovers, opposites attract, workplace romance served with a big helping of meddling family and friends, a small-town scandal, with a side of hot southern nights.

Borrowing Bentley is the ninth book in the Wishing Well series by the writing duo, Melanie Shawn. While this is part of a series, you won't have any issues if this is the first book in the series you pick up. Maisy Turner is all grown up and because of a scandal that has hit her small Texas town, she might actually have a chance to prove that she's an individual and not just one of the "Turner Triplets". While she loves her sisters, she either got mistaken for one of them or lumped together as a threesome instead of three individuals. She's got the opportunity now to advance her career and she couldn't be more excited. Well, that's until she learns who she has to work with. Bentley Calhoun is currently on leave from the police department due to a shooting during a case he was assisting with. He's working toward getting back on active duty, but that's all left in the hands of the shrink he's seeing weekly. He couldn't be more surprised when he's summonsed to the mayor's office and told that he's going to be working on a committee to help figure out the scandal that has just broken. Oh and the committee has a total of two members; himself and Maisy Turner. Bentley and Maisy have quite the history dating back when they were five years old. They know how to push one another's buttons and they don't get along in general. Will these two be able to put the past behind them in order to solve the problem? Or will the fact that they are working so closely together make them see things they may not have seen before? Maisy and Bentley definitely had mad chemistry. The way they were able to poke and prod at one another was amusing. I also really enjoyed how we got their backstory from both perspectives which gave the story a lot of richness. I appreciated that it wasn't just glossed over. This was a light, enjoyable read and one that was a breath of fresh air.

Borrowing Bentley is a phenomenal contemporary romance by Melanie Shawn. This team of authors has provided readers with a well-written book populated with fun and lovable characters. Bentley can't return to his job on the police force until he's cleared by his shrink. Maisy sees her new job as a way to become her own person, not one of a set of triplets. When Bentley, the bane of her existence, is assigned to work with her on a project...she is not a happy camper. Maisy and Bentley's story is packed with drama, laugh-out-loud humor and sizzle. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Melanie Shawn in the future. Borrowing Bentley is book 9 of the Wishing Well, Texas Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Once again this dynamic duo gives the reader a story that is touching, funny, heartwarming and just plain wonderful. Bentley Calhoun and Maisy (Daisy with an M) Turner, have been driving each other crazy since they were 5 years old. She the goody two shoe, always following the rules, and he the daredevil charmer, coloring outside the lines. Years later, now a detective, Bentley is put on mandatory leave after his last case, Bentley finds himself working alongside Maisy to find out how the previous mayor had embezzled the town. Watching these two together was like watching fireworks going haywire. But it also was at fun and sweet . Both had issues and though they seemed like total opposites , their love for their family and friends was undeniable. Will these two “enemies” find out they truly complement each other? Or will the past keep them apart? Another winner for this talented authors. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
